You wonder what events will transpire. Which characters will you grow to hate or to love? Who will you feel sorry for or angry for?
I just watched an interesting video on Creation vs. Atheistic-evolution… an interviewer asked several atheist-evolutionist college students several questions… among them was this somewhat disturbing exchange: Do you have a pet dog?
Do you love your dog? Yes, I do love my dog. If your dog was drowning in a swimming pool, and your neighbor was also drowning, and you could only save one of them… which one would you save? They went on to explain their reasoning… To them, the dog was on the same level of importance as their human neighbor.
So, saving the one that is most important to me is what is most important. Their answer was somewhat shocking to me! These were intelligent, decent-looking, college students — not some crazed animal-rights extremists!
My friends, I love dogs. I have a dog that I love dearly.
I would hate to lose my dog, but I would hate to lose you more. Thankfully, it is very unlikely I will have to choose between saving my dog and saving you, but perhaps the mental exercise is revealing of our thinking. We see its fruits every day in the news.
But I think deep-down we know. Well, these do not apply to animals, and since we are just animals to these peoplethese morals also do not apply to us. However, there is an alternative to this way of thinking. It tells us that some things are right and some things are wrong. It tells us that there is a just Creator that loves us more than we can imagine — even though we have all broken His laws and are unjust. And it is available to everyone who wants it!
That is good news!
